newyorkcitycouncil NEW YORK CITY – The New York Young Republican Club is proud to announce its official endorsement of Ashok Chandra to represent District 4 in the New York City Council.

Chandra, a 30-year-old Indian-American attorney who lives in midtown with his wife and baby daughter, is a lifelong Republican and an active member of the Club, currently serving as a vice president. Last night, the Club’s executive board voted unanimously to endorse Mr. Chandra in his campaign effort. Of utmost importance to the Club’s decision is that Chandra embodies urban Republican principles in word and action. Conservatives Don’t Let Up! The word is getting out..

Here is an email that is being sent out to all Pennsylvania MoveOn Members to fax a flier to Turn-Coat Specter and Casey

Dear MoveOn member,

Health care reform is in trouble in the Senate.

Conservatives in Congress, including some Democrats, are trying to kill Obama’s public health insurance option not by opposing it outright, but by pushing weak half-measures and calling them “public plans.”1 The latest is a proposal for small, regional “co-ops” that would have no chance of competing against insurance companies to bring costs down.2

If we act immediately, we have a good shot at defeating ploys like the “co-op.” The key is to make it clear that we support a strong public health insurance option and lay out exactly what that means.

Click below and we’ll fax a flier in your name (for free!) to Sens. Specter and Casey that sets the bar for a strong public health insurance option. Faxes come directly into the office, so staffers are guaranteed to see them. And if enough of us send faxes, staffers will pass the flier on to their senator.

Don’t support MoveOn… Support yourself.  Keep your dollars in your pockets and just volunteer your time online.  Put the work out and let’s take our country back and stop this radical agenda of tax and spend.l

It’s up to us to remind our senators that an overwhelming majority of Americans—83%—supports a public health insurance option,3 and that weak half-measures like the “co-op” plan are no substitute for real reform.

The flier says: “A strong public health insurance option must be part of health care reform this year,” and outlines key criteria that a plan must be based upon:

  • Available to all of us: A strong public health insurance option should be available to anyone who chooses to participate. If you like your current plan, you can keep it; if you want to participate in the public health insurance plan, you can choose that.
  • A national plan with real bargaining clout: In order to truly control costs and compete with private health insurance plans, a strong public health insurance option must be available nationwide.
  • Ready on day one: Every day we wait on real reform, health care costs continue to rise. A strong public health insurance option with a broad network of providers right out of the gate is key to building a competitive program that will help control costs.
  • A truly public plan: To ensure it’s held to the highest standards of accountability, a public health insurance option must be truly publicly run—accountable and transparent to Congress and to voters.

If thousands of us send faxes to Senate offices this week, we can make sure that message is heard loud and clear. Can you fax Sens. Specter and Casey today? Click below and we’ll send one for you:

Don’t support MoveOn… Support yourself.  Keep your dollars in your pockets and just volunteer your time online.  Put the work out and let’s take our country back and stop this radical agenda of tax and spend.

The Staff of The Obama White House Blog strongly endorses Steve Rathje and his beliefs in this wonderful country:

Born in Cedar Rapids in 1956, to successful entrepreneurs Richard and Ida Mae Rathje, Steve grew up watching his parents run their construction business from home, six to seven days a week. Their strong work ethic is what the Rathje Construction Company thrived on. Today, Rathje Construction has expanded to a location in Eastern Marion and is being run by Steve’s brothers, Robert and Kenneth and two of Steve’s nephews.

After Steve finished high school, he took an entry level job at Cedar Rapids Incorporated. Unfortunately, within a few months he was laid off. Shortly thereafter, he was hired by Universal Engineering as a janitor, he sought out every possible advancement opportunity available, and within a few years Steve found himself being rapidly promoted.

While working as the Director of Outside Sourcing, Steve discovered a niche in the manufacturing industry. He believed that he could find American suppliers to make the components better, faster and cheaper than the ones that his customers were buying from Mexico and China. In 1992, Steve formed “International Procurement Services” and has provided and will continue to provide Iowans and Americans with job opportunities. He later started another company called “The Genesis Group” as a tribute to the new opportunities in his life. As a testament to Steve’s entrepreneurial drive, Steve has received the “National Leadership Award” and “Business Advisory Council 2003: Businessman of the Year.”

Steve Rathje believes that Iowans deserve leaders with real life experience, good judgment, honesty, integrity, sincerity, and the ingenuity to analyze problems and weigh competing information, propose bold solutions and follow through until the job is done. Iowans deserve leaders who will focus on doing what is best for Iowa’s future.

Steve Rathje has achieved and maintained his professional success by adhering to a strong moral code. He firmly believes that some of these same characteristics are needed in our government to continue fighting against terrorism and securing our border, improving our educational and health systems, reducing taxes and wasteful spending, protecting the unborn, and permanently removing sexual predators from the streets. As a man with four grown children and six grandchildren, Steve thinks it is important to look ahead to our future.

“May God bless you, Iowa and the United States of America.”
